Rub in cold butter with fingertips till it resembles bread crumbs.
Make a well in center of the flour mixture, and add in 3/4 cup milk till a soft dough forms. You may need to add in 1/4 cup more milk if dough looks a little dry.
Lightly flour the countertop and roll out the dough into an oblong shape.
Spread on 3 tbsp softened butter.
