3 Tips to Make Thanksgiving Cooking Easy!

It's Almost Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is just over a week away! Now, you might be starting to get cold sweats thinking about all the food you have to cook, how you're going to get all the food ready at the same time, or even what the heck you're gonna make!

Don't worry! I am here to help with 3 simple tips that will make your Thanksgiving cooking easy. I call these My 3 P's for Thanksgiving Ease!

Tip #1: Plan

A few minutes of simple planning can go a long way to settling your nerves this Thanksgiving. I like to write down an hour-by-hour schedule for Thanksgiving day and what cooking tasks are needed during that hour. This ensures that I stay on track, and, if you have anyone helping you in the kitchen, they can go to the schedule to see what is next to do.

You can also use this schedule method for the day before Thanksgiving, just in case you have any cooking tasks to do ahead of time e.g. cutting any veggies, pre-baking any pies, last minute grocery shopping etc.

Writing down your full menu can is a must! That way you can double check if you're missing anything from your grocery list and time schedule. (And you won't have to answer 1,000 questions on Thanksgiving day about what's for dinner!)

Tip #2: Prepare

The day before Thanksgiving is the best time to prepare for a full day of cooking on Thanksgiving Day.

Take about 15-20 mins to set out your serving dishes, utensils, gravy boats, roasting pans, cutting boards, chef's knives and any other equipment that you typically use. You can also label your serving dishes and utensils, so any kitchen helpers can easily grab anything you may ask for without delay!

Tip #3: Ask Your Peeps

As much as we may imagine that Thanksgiving is all about making a massive meal all by yourself, that thought just adds more to your stress level. So, allow yourself to ask for help! People genuinely want to help you cook and clean on Thanksgiving day so make the most of it.

You can ask anybody coming over for Thanksgiving to bring a side, a dessert, or even paper plates and napkins (that way washing up is a breeze!). Be sure to give them plenty of notice if they are bringing food, or task them with something simple like bringing ice and drinks.

Remember, Thanksgiving is not a performance of perfection. It is about everyone coming together to celebrate their connection with each other and to enjoy some delicious food with their loved ones.
