Meet Suzanne Buchanan. She is not only an amazing entrepreneur, but she has also has used food to help her fight off the symptoms of a very rare blood disease. She has been so successful in doing so, that she has started helping others with chronic disease to find the foods that will help their bodies heal.

Suzanne and I had an awesome chat and virtual cooking lesson making one of her favorite dishes, Desi Style Cauliflower. This simple recipe is full of incredible superfoods that will help you fight inflammation, bacteria and viruses. It's the perfect recipe for this time of the year. And, it is absolutely delicious too!

Desi Style Cauliflower

A superfood rich and easy recipe to help you fight inflammation in a way that tastes delicious!

  • 1 head organic cauliflower per 2 people, (cut into florets)
  • 1 bunch organic cilantro, (roughly chopped)
  • 1 lemon (halved)
  • 1 3 inch thumb sized piece of ginger, (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves organic garlic, (minced)
  • 1 heaping tbs raisins
  • 1 handful of cashews
  • 1 tbs ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp ground turmeric
  • 2-3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1 pinch of Himalayan pink salt
  1. Heat coconut oil in a saute pan over medium heat.

  2. Add the ginger and saute till translucent, about 3 minutes.

  3. Add the turmeric and cumin, and stir to combine. Heat till fragrant.

  4. Add the minced garlic in to the pan and stir.

  5. Add the cauliflower florets into the spice mixture and stir to evenly coat.

  6. If the cauliflower is not very moist, add in about 1/8 cup of water and cover the saute pan. Cook over medium low heat till the caulifower is tender.

  7. Once the cauliflower is cooked, add the salt, raisins, cashews and cilantro to the pan. Gently toss to combine.

  8. Squeeze in the juice of about half of the lemon. Stir again.

  9. Taste to see if any additional seasonings are needed e.g. more salt, lemon juice etc.

  10. Serve warm. You can also add your favorite protein to this, such as chicken or fish.
