Last Minute Halloween Treats!

Updated October 25, 2021

It’s Halloween!

Looking for a last minute Halloween treat, and don’t want to blow your healthy eating goals? Then I have the recipe for you!

For this special treat, I am using Lily’s Sweets Chocolate Chips. I was fortunate enough for Lily’s to reach out to me to send me a very cool box of awesome chocolates! I was in chocolate heaven! But even better than that, I love how Lily’s is helping people in so many ways. Firstly, they make stevia sweetened chocolates which is perfect for people who cannot or choose not to have sugar. Secondly, a portion of their proceeds go to help organizations that are researching childhood cancer cures, as well as other life threatening diseases. And thirdly, Lily’s products are non-GMO, Fair trade and gluten free. Now that’s chocolate I can feel good about eating!

Chocolate and Spiderwebs???

This idea for this sweet treat actually comes from my 6 year old and the Pioneer Woman. Yes, it’s true! We were watching an older episode of the Pioneer Woman, and Ree made this chocolate topper that she placed on top of a cup and poured hot chocolate over it. It melted the chocolate and looked so cool! My daughter wanted to make some immediately!

So to give this idea a Halloween spin, I decided to make chocolate spiderwebs! These chocolate spiderwebs can also be placed on top of a cup and hot chocolate poured over the top to melt it. Plus the spiderweb design looks really cool!

Chocolate Spiderweb

I think hot chocolate is the perfect nightcap after a long night of trick or treating. It’s also supposed to rain on Halloween and the weather is supposed to get a lot colder. So what is better than warming up with a nice hot chocolate and a cool chocolate spiderweb to keep that Halloween theme going?!

Chocolate Spiderwebs

These Chocolate Spiderwebs are cute, fun and the perfect topper to a hot chocolate after a night of trick-or-treating!

  • 1 cup Lily’s Chocolate Chips
  • ½ tbsp coconut oil
  1. Place a piece of parchment paper on to a cookie sheet.
  2. Select the cup you are going to place the chocolate spiderweb on. Place the lip of this cup on the parchment paper and trace around it with a pen. Flip the parchment paper over and ensure you can see what was just traced. Place the parchment paper pen-side down onto the cookie sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, add the chocolate chips and coconut oil.
  4. Melt in the microwave in 15 second increments, stirring throroughly after each time in the microwave. Continue heating and stirring till the chocolate is very smooth. Be careful not to burn the chocolate.
  5. Pour the chocolate mixture into a sandwich size ziplock bag and seal the bag.
  6. Using scissors, make a very small cut in the corner of the ziplock bag. We will squeeze the chocolate through this hole to make the spider web.
  7. Hold the ziplock bag in your dominant hand and squeeze the chocolate onto the parchment paper creating a spider web design. Make sure each spider web is within the size of the cup tracing that you made earlier.
  8. Once you have made all the spiderwebs, place the cookie sheet in the freezer to set up quickly, about 30 minutes.
  9. When your fave hot chocolate is hot and ready, take a chocolate spider web from the freezer and place on the lip of the cup.
  10. Carefully pour hot chocolate over the spiderwebs and into the cup. Watch it melt to give the hot chocolate even more of a chocolatey taste...yum!

These chocolate spiderwebs will start to melt quickly out of the fridge/freezer so make sure your hot chocolate is ready to go first. You can make any size chocolate spider web that you want! It would also be a great melt-in-your-mouth chocolate by itself.
