Welcome!

Hey! Welcome to my very first blog post! Creating a food blog has been a long time dream of mine and it is so exciting to see it become a reality! Thank you for reading!!!First, a little about me. I'm Renata! I am a wife, mother of 3 little ones (and a dog!), sister and all-round lover of food. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved being in the kitchen. Some of my fondest memories are being in the kitchen and watching my mother and grandmother cook amazing dishes that everyone loved. As I grew older, I started to see the effect that food has on the body. My father had multiple heart attacks and numerous other medical issues. I saw other members of my family struggle with weight gain, diabetes, digestive issues, high cholesterol, high blood pressure .... the list goes on. I often looked at the pre-packaged food we ate, and wondered, "Shouldn't all these food companies take more responsibility on the food they are creating? Shouldn't they be making food that is good for you? That nourishes your body instead of destroying it?" What's more is I felt guilty after I ate these foods. Guilty because while the food may have tasted good, I knew that it wasn't helping my body thrive. After I started having kids, I began to focus more on putting healthy food into my body. In part, it was selfish because I wanted to lose the baby weight, but also I started to see positive improvements in the way I felt. I didn't feel as sluggish in the afternoons and I had more energy. I also got my husband to start drinking smoothies with me every day which brought his high cholesterol down to normal levels. Maybe there was something to this healthy eating thing???I have learned that IT IS POSSIBLE to create and eat food that truly tastes good, and is good for you! The food doesn't have to be complex to make or contain weird ingredients that you can't find at your local stores. Good food can be simple, delicious and nourishing for your body, mind and spirit. My aim is to show you how to make delicious food to fuel you and your family. This is food that you can feel good about eating!Welcome to Nourish with Renata!  Special thanks to Vu Nguyen at Shutter Capture for the awesome photo of me above!
