Why I Wrote a Cookbook

It's Almost Here!

It is hard to believe that in just over 1 week, my very first cookbook, Nourish Your Body: A 30 Day Healthy & Delicious Meal Plan, will be out in the world!

I have been working on this cookbook for almost 1 full year, testing recipes, taking photos and writing about nutrition, and I am absolutely thrilled to be so close to sharing this cookbook with you.

But you might be thinking "Why did you write a cookbook? Why now?"

And those are the questions that I am answering today.

Why I Wrote A Cookbook

I have always loved food and being in the kitchen. As a young girl, I remember just loving hanging out in my grandmother's kitchen and seeing all the incredible food that was created there.

I also loved reading cookbooks like novels. I could imagine the bold flavors, and the way that the ingredients would chop, sear and become golden brown. These ingredients were like my favorite book characters, each with a new side of themselves being shown in every recipe. The cooking utensils, pots and pans, becoming the landscape where the storylines would play out. And finally, the ending to the story would be a mesmerizing photograph, filled with vibrant colors of the fantastical feast for the eyes.

Because of my love of cookbooks, I've always imagined what it would be like to see my own cookbook on a bookshelf in Barnes and Noble. How cool would that be?! I would imagine another little girl picking up my cookbook and leafing through the pages, as mesmerized as I was when I was her age. Her mind filled with her own hopes and dreams of her future, filled with incredible food.

Suffice to say, writing a cookbook has been a longstanding dream of mine. And for years, I thought to myself, I need to be famous, or have 10 million followers or be found by some cookbook editor, in order to be able to write a cookbook myself.

Well, one day, I just decided that I actually COULD write a cookbook, without any of those weird qualifiers that I had imposed on myself. So I set to work, everyday, writing my cookbook.

And now it is almost here to share with y'all!

What 2020 Showed Me

The second reason why I wrote a cookbook was because of what I was seeing happening to women during COVID in 2020.

So many women were trying to do all the things for their families and business. Women were mothering, home schooling, cooking, cleaning, trying to stay up on the news, doing laundry, as well as trying to work as much as they possibly could in their jobs or business.

Well, when women were trying to do all these things, something had to give. And that something was their health.

I spoke to countless women who said they were so stressed out, losing control, losing focus and losing hope.

After we began talking, I found easy ways to fit healthy eating into their day by giving them quick meal plans.

When women used the meal plans I created for them, they were able to lose weight and inches. One client even was able to stop taking her high cholesterol medication!

This not only helped them to feel better about their bodies, but their self-confidence grew. They were able to see that they could fill up their own cups every day. Instead of waiting for some far off magical day somewhere in the future.

It is a beautiful thing to be able to see the effect that my recipes had on my clients. It helped them nourish their bodies, their minds and their spirit.
