Top 3 Breakfasts Kids Love!
The Best Way to Start the Day
It's hard to escape the constant ads about sugary cereals for kids. But even though these cereals might taste really good, they just don't help our little ones be fueled up to take on a full day of play time and school.
So what should kiddos be eating for breakfast each morning?
I like to recommend a protein rich breakfast. Protein will help to keep the kids feeling fuller for longer, as well as helping keep their blood sugar levels more stable, instead of that blood sugar high then crash, that often accompanies those sugary breakfast alternatives.
Having protein in the morning has also been helpful for my daughter to stay more focused when at school. Since many school aged kids are taking their yearly tests around this time of year, protein rich breakfasts are a fantastic way for them to start the day and be ready for their tests.
Top 3 Breakfasts Kids Love
This delicious breakfast seems like a treat, but these muffins are made with almond flour, so they are higher in protein and healthy fats vs traditional muffins. The kids love to top the muffins with different fun toppings, such as pecans, sugar free chocolate chips or peanut butter chips. Pair these muffins with some milk, and you've got yourself a yummy breakfast than can also be eaten on-the-go.
2. Easy Yogurt and Granola Parfait
My daughter, Olivia, requested this super simple Yogurt and Granola Parfait for her snack during the days she has her school tests. We use a vanilla greek yogurt, packed with about 20g protein per serving, and a few tablespoons of homemade granola. This Stovetop Granola recipe can be made with or without pumpkin puree, but definitely keep the vanilla and cinnamon for that decadent aromatic sweetness. You can also add your favorite nuts, seeds and dried fruit to really make this granola your own.
This is a great make-ahead breakfast idea that contains protein from the eggs and the sausage. Not to mention, slow release carbs from the sweet potatoes and some healthy veggies too! My kids love having this with some ketchup on the side.
